Well, it turns out we don't really know that much. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. Program: What do we know about queer Indigenous history?

Troy-Anthony Baylis of the Jawoyn Nation is an Adelaide-based artist and is completing his PhD about sexual and gender diversity of Australian Aboriginal peoples and artistic expression, and told The Hook Up that in terms of specific queer sexuality, we actually don't know anything.
In the last few years, the Tiwi Island Sistagirls have become quite famous, last year attending the Sydney Mardi Gras for the first time. It turns out the Mimi spirits pictured above may offer some hope of queer Indigenous history in Dreamtime stories.
