And then the relationship just got deeper, and then we've been together for 19 years and it's fantastic. Since Peterson went public about Wierson this week, she has been celebrated and supported by her queer fans. She's not that kind of person.

I fell in love with a particular person who I had been elviras with for many years. If I was married for 25 years to the same man, I didn't want people to know that, because I think it would turn off a lot of male fans, you know?

Elvira, the famed “Mistress of the Dark,” has shared she identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Cassandra Peterson, famously known as pop culture Halloween icon Elvira, isn’t scared anymore — at least not when it comes to saying that, yes, she’s a member of the LGBTQ+ community. So, I just kept my relationships private as I could, just to keep the character intact.

As far as she was concerned, it was great being that way. That feels weird to me. I fell in love with somebody who I met, who I really loved, and she was a woman. Oh, gay partner] loves it when we're walking down the street and a hot guy goes by and I'm like [gawking]!
